Cal Water Launches "Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of..." Series for Water Awareness Month

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/01/14 -- Ever wonder how that clean, reliable water supply gets to your tap? If you're like most people, you probably haven't, but it takes a lot of mostly unseen infrastructure and many water professionals to get it there. So, in honor of Water Awareness Month, California Water Service Company (Cal Water) is launching a series called "Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of..."

Beginning May 5, 2014, Cal Water customers can go behind the scenes and see the some of the many people who play an important part in getting water from the source to the tap. Every Monday and Thursday, a different story will be available on the utility's web site at www.calwater.com/behind-scenes or on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/calwater.

"We are dedicated to providing our customers with a reliable, high-quality water supply and excellent service at a good value," said Martin A. Kropelnicki, President and Chief Executive Officer. "But it's not just a commitment by the company; our employees are 100-percent committed to our customers as well. We have a top-notch, professional team at Cal Water, and this series is one way to show the kind of work they do, day in and day out," he said.

The educational and interesting "Behind the Scenes" series will show a day in the life of a certified pump operator, a treatment plant operator, a leak truck foreman, an engineering design manager, a small systems operator, a water quality lab technician, a customer service representative, and a conservation coordinator.

"We deliver literally tons of clean water to our customers' homes and businesses, a service that makes our way of life possible. And we do it in most places for less than a penny per gallon," Kropelnicki said. "It's really amazing, when you think about it."

Cal Water serves about 2 million people through 473,100 service connections in California. The company has provided water service in the state since 1926. Additional information may be obtained online at www.calwater.com.
