Cal Water Announces Rollout of Free Toilet Delivery Program
SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/08/15 -- Today, California Water Service (Cal Water), the largest subsidiary of California Water Service Group (NYSE: CWT), announced it will begin offering a High-Efficiency Toilet Delivery Program as another tool to help customers continue to use water wisely.
The High-Efficiency Toilet Delivery Program will be available to all residential customers in the company's regulated service areas throughout California. This program will be rolled out regionally between September and November, and will be available while supplies last.
As part of the High-Efficiency Toilet Delivery Program, Cal Water's contractor will provide residential customers who have existing toilets using 1.6 gallons per flush or greater with a Niagara Stealth high‐efficiency toilet that uses 0.8 gallons per flush. This service will be provided to qualified customers at no cost and does not include installation.
According to Director of Drought Management and Conservation Ken Jenkins, the program is consistent with Cal Water's customer-first approach to the drought. It is expected to save up to 8,768 gallons of water per year for single-family residential customers, on average, and up to 16,157 gallons per year for multi-family residential customers.
"By replacing toilets that use up to eight gallons per flush with high‐efficiency toilets, customers can save up to 50 gallons per day. Programs such as this are helping Cal Water residents achieve significant water savings," Jenkins said. "This high-efficiency toilet delivery program is among the many tools we offer to our customers to help them conserve during this historic drought."
Cal Water serves about 2 million people through 487,000 service connections in California. The company has provided water service in the state since 1926. Additional information may be obtained online at www.calwater.com.
